Pantry School DriveOur
Pantry is asking for school supplies: pencils, pens, erasers,
notebook paper, folders, etc. to fill 75 backpacks. We
also ask for help with backpacks. We need 75 of them.
Last year we found a place where we got them for $5 each. Even at
$5, that is over $350 alone for bags. If anyone wants to contribute
to the book bag fund, you just need to mark it for Pantry-book bag fund,
or give cash to Jan or Julie Kurtz or Terry Snyder. We need the
contributions by August
10 so we have time to get any extra supplies that we
need. Distribution
is the 4th Saturday (the 23rd). Come
on Friday (the 22nd) at 6 pm
to help pack! Thanks so much for all your donations! |

JumpStart … A New Sunday Morning Option for the FallBeginning
September 7 and running through November 23
during the Education Hour, Pastor Ross Slaughter will begin a new
discussion group that will help him "jump start" his Sunday
morning message for the following week. He is beginning a new series of
sermons beginning September 14 under the general title: "Where Do We
Go From Here?" In
this ten-message series, "Where Do We Go From Here?", Pastor
Ross will address various issues regarding our eternal destiny from the
pages of the Bible. This series comes out of dealing with the many
questions he has fielded throughout his ministry about heaven and the
resurrection, recognizing that many genuinely want clarity about where
human life is leading them and what God has to say about it. The JumpStart
class gives you the opportunity to engage in a discussion prior to the
sermon on the various subjects covered and it will help Pastor Ross adjust
his content to make the messages right on target. This
class is open to newcomers, individuals not currently involved with a
class, and to any of the classes that want to take a "break from the
usual." Be a part of this unique opportunity that ties the Education
Hour with the Worship Hour and explore your own faith in a fresh and
dynamic way. |

Prayer LabExperience real prayer connection with others … with God On Tuesday evenings you have the opportunity to come to the church sanctuary to pray and to be prayed for. The church will be open to you from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on a regular basis on Tuesday evenings for you. This is also an opportunity for you to invite someone you know who needs prayer to come as well. The format is Spirit led … which means that no two Prayer Labs will be alike. We will be responding personally to the needs of those who come, praying the wisdom, compassion and power of God for all who participate. Our vision with this prayer opportunity is to give people a more intimate time with God that is prayer-intensive to see needs met and lives changed … a ministry to those within the church family as well as to the community. It is all a part of our larger church vision to see all people become all they can be in Jesus Christ. |

Are you upgrading?Upgrading what? Well, your computer of course. As we all are aware, computers become outdated very quickly. We have been very appreciative of the computers we have in Bible Bytes, but they are becoming quickly outdated for the software we want to use. If you have a computer(s) with the following requirements (Or Better!), that you are no longer using, please consider donating it to the church. The minimum we ask for is: 600 MHz Pentium or Athlon processor, Windows 98 operating system, 6 GB hard drive, 128 MB RAM. We would also need any Windows and system restore disks/CDs that go with the computer. If you have one to donate, contact Jon Loresch or Marilyn Stroble. |

Amazement Park OfferingA
reminder to parents that the children's offering goes to support a child
through the Christian Children's Fund. We support Mbaye Sene from
Senegal, and have been his sponsors for a year now. Mbaye
lives with 11 other family members in a two room house with no electricity
nor running water. He goes to
primary school and enjoys playing soccer with his mates.
His father is a farmer and his mother is an unskilled housewife. |

What Do Deacons Do?The main function of the Deacons is to take care of those who are ill or otherwise shut-in and are unable to attend services at the church as well as compassion for those who are grieving. The Deacons have six committees: Calling and Caring, Compassion, Homebound, Hospital, Pantry and Prayer Group. During the year, the Deacons perform special functions like making spring decorations and Christmas cheer bags for those on the shut-in list as well as delivering Easter and Christmas flowers. They also gather toiletry items for Hope Totes at Haven of Rest and pack these items five times a year to be distributed to the homeless population in the greater Akron area. . |

Used Ink Cartridges News For those who are supporting the senior highs with their used ink cartridges, we ask that you DO NOT put them in plastic bags. That ruins them, and we then do not receive any money for them. Also, if you have the box for the laser cartridges, we would appreciate that you put the old cartridges in them. If not, that is fine. We thank you for your support. Contact-Marilyn Stroble, dce@cfupc.org. |
