Food Pantry

U. P. C. Food Pantry & Angel Tree Ministry

Our food pantry offers a hand up….NOT a hand out to those in need. We serve an average of 60-80 families each month, including church members, church member referrals and community referrals. We strive to provide sufficient food for 3 meals for 5 days for the family, including meat, vegetables, pasta, cereal, dairy products, etc., and also providing cleaning and personal care products. During the holidays, we also take on additional referrals from the community for holiday food baskets, providing the entire holiday meal for the family.

We have the Christmas Angel Tree so the children of our pantry families can receive Christmas gifts. This ministry is for children under the age of 18.

The pantry is funded through direct donations from our church members as well as outside sources. The majority of the food we distribute comes from the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank for a very nominal cost. Church members also bring in items to help stock our shelves.

The pantry is open for community and church member referrals on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of each month from 9am to 11am as per the schedule set up at the beginning of each year. We attempt to distribute on the Saturday before any holiday. Distribution is lengthened to 12 noon for Thanksgiving and Christmas due to the additional holiday food basket distributions.

Pantry packing is done the Friday night before each scheduled monthly distribution. Different groups assist as well as individual church members who faithfully show up to help pack the food and stock the shelves.

It takes many hands to make this mission work. Thanks to everyone who supports and helps!
